Okay so I’m not going to lie, I’ve been showing some of these products a lot of love waaaaay before this month. However, it’s a little late in the game to be posting a 2015 Beauty Favs, and I did discover some of these products just recently. So typically I wouldn’t have this many new favorites in one month, but I just couldn’t leave anything out!
And also, can we talk about how crazy it is that it’s already the end of January?! I can’t believe we are already a whole month into the new year. How are your resolutions going? Keep them up!
So let’s just jump right into it, since I have quite a few products to share. Here are my January 2016 Beauty Favorites! I hope you enjoy!
I mentioned in a previous post how I recently swapped out my old foundation for the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in hopes of clearing up my complexion. If you’re curious about what other products I’ve been trying, check out my Simple Skin Care Routine. So far, I’ve really been liking this foundation. It’s easy to blend and has medium coverage.
I’ve also mentioned my Makeup Forever HD Pressed Powder in quite a few of my recent posts as well. So, if you’ve read any of those, you know that I am a huge fan of this powder. It keeps me matte around my t-zone and will be a necessity for controlling oil this summer.
Another setting powder that I’ve had for awhile, but just recently started using again is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light. You can use this powder as a subtle highlight on your cheekbones, but I tend to use it as an allover setting powder. I apply a thin coat around the parameters of my face to give my skin a nice glow.
My favorite highlight, Becca Cosmetic’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in the shade Champagne Pop, was also featured in my recent post Best Product of 2015 – Champagne Pop. I go into greater detail about my love for this product in that post.
Kat Von D’s Shade + Light Contour Palette is one of the products I’ve been using and abusing for way longer than just one month. I’ve actually hit pan on one of the shades. There are three highlighting shades and three contouring shades. I used the banana shade and the lightest highlight shade for setting my under eye concealer. I used the cooler contour shade to contour my cheekbones and and the warmer contour shade to bronze up my face.
I’ve also mentioned my Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer in previous posts. This is by far the best concealer I’ve ever used. It’s medium coverage, but the light consistency makes it feel like you’re not wearing anything at all.
To blend in my concealer and foundation, I always use my Beauty Blender. This is an absolute staple for my makeup routine, and it’s a tool that I’ve also been using for way longer than just one month so I know my love is real. Real Techniques also makes a less expensive sponge that I’ve heard is very similar.
For eyeshadow palettes, one of my favorites is the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. I love the Naked 1 palette as well, but the Naked 2 palette shadows are creamier with better pigmentation. The Naked 2 palette has cooler tone shades. The only aspect of these palettes that I’m not a huge fan of, is that each of them only has one or two matte shades. I love matte crease shades, so these palettes don’t offer a larger range of colors. However, they are great for traveling. They each have a large mirror and you can create many different looks with them – from casual to more dramatic.
January has been the month of the brows for me. I’ve been experimenting with filling in my brows and now I can’t do my makeup without doing it. I LOVE Anastasia of Beverly Hill’s Brow Wiz and Clear Brow Gel. She also just released her Brow Definer and as soon as my Brow Wiz runs out, I will be giving that one a try!
For blush, I use Covergirl’s Classic Color Blush in the shade Iced Plum. It’s really the only blush I use. It’s highly pigmented and there is a lot of product in the pan. It will take me forever to get through. It’s a good natural day-to-day color.
For lashes, I’ve been pairing Benefit Cosmetic’s Roller Lash Mascara with Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I don’t love the Too Faced mascara on its own, but I found that in combination, the two make a great pair. The Benefit mascara curls, separates, and lengthens my lashes, while the Too Faced mascara adds volume and thickness.
Lastly, for lips, I’ve been loving L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Collection in shade 370 Jennifer’s Nude. This lipstick has a really creamy formula. It’s not drying and it lasts quite awhile on my lips. I love this color as an everyday pinky-nude.
Sorry that this list is quite long! Comment below and let me know what your favorite products were for the month of January!
