What’s Valentine’s Day without a little chocolate? Umm . . . basically not even a holiday. Besides, calories don’t count on holidays, right? Right. So, if you indulged in some yummy treats this weekend like I did, don’t feel bad! I’ve got five easy and healthy snacks for you to try throughout this coming week to get you back on track to healthy eating!
1. Veggies and Hummus
This is such an easy snack, and very customizable. I love carrots, celery, snap peas, and red peppers, dipped in Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, but if you have some other favorite veggies that you want to include, go for it!
2. PB & Honey Banana Toast
This is another great snack that will keep you full until your next meal. I toast two pieces of whole wheat bread, spread a little natural peanut butter on top, layer on some cut up bananas, and drizzle with some honey. This is such a sweet treat that you could even eat for breakfast or lunch.
3. Home Made Trail Mix
I’ve always loved trail mix as a snack on the go. I don’t like buying prepackaged trail mix because I find it has a lot of added salt and sugar that aren’t necessary. I throw together a big batch of my favorite ingredients and take it as a snack for the rest of the week. I make sure to purchase unsalted nuts. I mix almonds, cashews, walnuts, dark chocolate chips, and dried dates.
4. Fruit Dip
This dip is such a sweet treat that is actually good for you! Mix together some 0% fat vanilla greek yogurt, natural peanut butter, honey, and give it a good stir. I love to eat apples, bananas, and raspberries with this dip.
5. Peanut Butter Cookie Bites
I got this recipe from the Tone It Up girls that I follow on YouTube. They have great workout videos and really healthy recipes. They’ve also created the Perfect Fit Protein which is an organic plant-base protein powder. This recipe is a really tasty way to incorporate some extra protein into your diet, and will keep you full throughout the day.
You mix together 3/4 cup of natural peanut butter, 1 tbsp of coconut flour (I use whole wheat flower instead), 1/2 cup vanilla Perfect Fit Protein, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tbsp of almond milk, and then you fold in dark chocolate chips and roll into balls. This recipe makes 12 balls.
Let me know if you try any of these tasty snacks and what you think! I hope you enjoyed your weekend, and cheers to a healthy week!
